Films of Scotland
(BBC Scotland documentary series, 2010)
Series introduced by comedian Greg Hemphill looking at the films made to promote Scotland between 1938 and 1982.
Episode 3: Holidays
Opens with excerpts from A Busman's Holiday, made in 1960. Seen here is Scottish Omnibuses B465 (KSC543),an AEC Regal IV/Alexander built April 1953:
Western Scottish DG1120 (GCS206), a Guy Arab LUF 6HLW/Alexander is only seen from the side and from behind:
The bus interest continues in further films, including 'View from the Bass'. Two vehicles from Beukens Coaches of Fauldhouse are seen from behind in convoy. Leading is TKY686, identified by Martin Ingle as a 1960 Burlingham Seagull bodied Bedford SB1 new to Baddeley Brothers. It's followed by NUP460, a 1953 Bedford SB/Burlingham Seagull new to Cooper of Annitsford:
'Travelpass - It's Just The Ticket' unsurprisingly features more buses. Two young ladies take a trip using their Travelpasses. We don't get to see the bus they start out on:
…but they switch to Highland CD36 (GST953F), a Bedford VAM70/Willowbrook:
Also seen is this MacBrayne Bedford VAS:
In 'Perthshire Panorama' we briefly see a Bedford SB with Burlingham Seagull body:
Later we see Aberdeen buses and a tram:
….and an Edinburgh Leyland Atlantean, albeit out of focus:
Many thanks to John Wakefield for help with these!
