Fascinating antidote to those Top Gear “let's blow things up for fun” stunts. This series of programmes looks at the effect of German bombing of Britain during the Second World War. A terraced street is subjected to the kinds of explosive that fell on British cities to examine in forensic detail the damage done by different types of explosive. This is supported by archive footage and anecdotes from the people who lived through the Blitz.

Rob Sissons notes “archive film clips showing war damage in Coventry including a shot of a wrecked Coventry Corporation bus 240 (EWK240), a 1939 Daimler COG5 with Brush bodywork. The bus was rebodied by Brush in 1942 and remained in service until 1955.”
