Seven British construction workers travel to Germany to work on a site in Düsseldorf. The show became increasingly far-fetched, and had overstayed its welcome by the time it ended.

The opening credits of Season 1 featured Wessex National 292 (SND292X), a Leyland Leopard PSU5C with Plaxton Supreme IV body, new to National Travel West as S292 in 1981:

“In the first series of 'Auf Wiedersehen,Pet', set in Germany, there is a scene in which Oz boards an articulated bus to head for the ferry after being sacked from the site. He is subsequently reinstated,and Dennis and Barry pursue the bus on Barry's motorbike and manage to shout at Oz to disembark.” (thanks Alan Sinclair) . The scene was filmed in Hamburg rather than Düsseldorf, and you'll see this Mercedes O305G artic carries a Hamburg 'HH' licence plate:

Tyne and Wear PTE 149 (AVK149V). a 1980 Alexander-bodied Leyland Atlantean AN68A/2R. It's in an allover advertising livery for the Patterson's car dealership:

Features a a pair of Ford coaches of Kings of Middlesbrough. RXG810H is an R192/Plaxton Elite (Steve notes “quite smart for a 32 year old motor!”); 7204DD (originally UUX366S with Ellerman Beeline) is a later R1114/Plaxton Supreme IV. (thanks Graeme Selway)

Episode 3.03:
Set in Arizona; a small American school bus. It also appears, parked in the same place, in episode 4:

Scenes in Newcastle were actually filmed in London, and include several Arriva London vehicles: a London DAF DB250/Alexander ALX400, a Volvo Olympian/Alexander, and a Plaxton Pointer-bodied Dennis Dart, also several AEC Routemasters, in background:


Scenes in Cuba with the cast were actually filmed in the Dominican Republic, which might explain the continuity issue between two different schoolies:

A scene in Thailand featured this bus of Chiang Mai Tours:
