Odd tale of schoolchildren and retribution includes a trip on an unidentified double-decker. It's dual-door and the livery looks like Brighton Transport, which suggests a Leyland Atlantean:

The central character, played by Peter Bowles, boards London Buses AEC Routemaster RM121 (VLT121):
