The irascible Redvers Potter was played first by Arthur Lowe, later by Robin Bailey. In this episode Potter (Lowe) catches the bus to the library, but gets his rolled umbrella caught in the doors after climbing aboard. It's a Bristol Lodekka FLF/Eastern Coachworks in National Bus Company red livery, but without fleetnames; the registration plate on the back is unclear in these captures:


On his return from town the bus is revealed as Hants and Dorset 1555 (HRU680E) and Potter is still having difficulty with the doors:
