(BBC comedy sketch show, 1979-82)

A sketch show starring Rowan Atkinson, Pamela Stephenson, Griff Rhys-Jones and Mel Smith, that set out to shock with its savagery at the time. Not all the sketches have aged well, and it has maybe a couple of dozen genuinely funny gags in its 29 episodes.

Cops and robbers, NtNON style, while a Hants and Dorset dual-purpose Leyland-National passes the end of the street:

Episode 4.5:
Two men are fighting at a bus stop, much to the annoyance of two old ladies. A London Transport bus arrives, and the conductor calls 'room for two only'. The conductor gives two bells and the bus roars off, leaving the punks lying on the floor having been beaten up by the old ladies who've just got on the bus. (Thanks John Hammond).
The bus in question is RTW497 (LLU987), which had been in preservation since 1973:


A skit on the long-running 'Songs of Praise' religious programme has footage of the Carfax in Horsham, West Sussex, and a parked Hants and Dorset Leyland-National, while a Southdown single-decker passes behind it:

(the hotel with 'Inland Revenue Office' on its front wall was Ye Olde Kings Head Hotel, now converted to a restaurant.)
