A Kind of Loving

(1962, Alan Bates, June Ritchie)

Filmed in Bolton and Preston, Lancashire. Three Blackburn Corporation Guy Arab IVs with East Lancs bodies appear; 165 (NCB165) and 169 (NCP169), both new in 1961, are seen as works buses:

The main bus used, in several scenes, is 157 (KBV157), new in 1958:

Mike Keeley adds “Part of the film always looked to me as though shot in Preston, but with Blackburn buses. Another interesting point is that the couple leave what I think is the old North Road coach station in Preston in a Plaxton bodied SB, but when they reach the seaside they alight from a Duple bodied one! The interior scene on the Guy is strange, with 'Alf Roberts' as the guard - at one point it sounds as though Bedford OB sound effects have been dubbed on!”
The Plaxton SB is this one, JHG822 of Central of Burnley, an SB1 new in 1960:

Two Ribble Leyland Atlanteans and an unidentifiable singledecker appear:

The Duple SB is this one, arriving in Lytham St Annes, at St Anne's Pier, although the Plaxton SB has Southport as its destination.
